The Context
Uncertainties, vulnerabilities, and inequalities have been growing across all sectors and geographies. The design processes in most ecosystems, whether natural, indigenous, rural, urban, or industrial, tend to degenerate despite the best human efforts. The existing literature on practices, policies & theories to halt or reverse these degenerative processes may broadly be seen from the three dominant frameworks: Circular Economy, Social & Solidarity Economy, and Ecological Economics. While the first is focused on Economics, the second is focused on Social, and the third is focused on Ecology.
The above International Conference aims to bring together the existing sustainability frameworks from design factors of interconnected sub-systems and overall all interacting evolving systems science paradigm to facilitate Regenerative Systems in the context of specific ecosystems, viz., (a) Natural Ecosystem, (b) Indigenous Ecosystem, (c) Rural Ecosystem, (d) Urban Ecosystem, and (e) Industrial Ecosystem. In the above context, this Conference focuses on the science of Regenerativeness through the combination of different design variables across different dimensions.
This eclectic ecosystemic transdisciplinary methodology-based Conference has been designed on interconnected themes viz. Organization, Manufacturing, Services, Agriculture, Governance, Institutions, Relationships, and Ecology in the context of specific ecosystems. The interconnections, interdependence, and embeddedness of the above dimensions are represented by the four critical pillars of an Ecosystem, viz. Economic, Political, Social, & Ecology.
Scholarly contributions and cases of successful holistic or ecosystemic practices with transdisciplinary approaches are invited to this Conference. The various tracks and topics of the Conference are listed below under different pillars and dimensions. It is advised that contributors adopt a transdisciplinary approach to the above topics while diagnosing problems or synthesizing solutions for Regenerativeness in any sub-system or any Regenerative Ecosystem. It is advisable that each contributor takes into account the interconnected factors of one or more of the eight dimensions. The Conference is also open to additional relevant factors and variables for Regenerativeness in sub-systems and Ecosystems.
Selected papers of the Conference will be considered for Special Issues of reputed Journal(s) Viz.; Journal of Systems Research & Behavioral Science and Vilakshan-Journal of Management, as well as an edited book titled Regenerativeness in the Anthropocene: Philosophy, Design, & Strategy to SDGs by an international publisher. Please see the conference webpage https://xim.edu.in/aiess/icre2025/ for updates on the publication opportunities. More details on Paper submission will be given at an Online Paper Development Guideline Session on 21st February 2025.
