2. ACTION RESEARCH ON SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL SYSTEM
Research Objectives:
  1. To implement the principles of sustainable agricultural system viz., (a) in-situ water conservation & moisture management, (b) improvement in soil health, (c) indigenous and genetically stable seed usage and yield (d) farm and agricultural diversity of crops, horticulture and livestock and (e) local ecology in both irrigated and rainfed agro-climatic-market conditions.
  2. To determine the cost, yield, net income, and social benefits in terms of water harvest, oxygen production from the farm.
  3. To determine optimal farm size & agricultural basket (crop–horticulture–livestock-agro forestry combinations) for a farmer family to meet its nutritional, health, educational and other basic requirements in both agro-climatic-market conditions.
  4. Develop a sustainable farming operational manual for both irrigated and rainfed agro-climatic market conditions that can used by farmers, youth and professionals who want to grow food for their families and their communities.

3. CASE STUDIES OF FPOS IN DIFFERENT STATES OF INDIA TO UNDERSTAND THE DYNAMICS OF SUCCESS AND CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED
Research Objectives:

The primary objective of this study is to undertake detailed case studies of exemplary FPOs in major states where FPOs have been promoted to bring out the factors contributing to their successes and how they have been able to deal with both the internal management and governance issues and leverage the externalities of production, governance, institutions and markets and stabilize their respective FPOs.
