Functional Committees

XIMAHR, the HR functional committee organised events like JAM (Just a Minute) and ‘Manthan‘ for the first-year students to allow them to showcase their talents and increase their knowledge about HR and other business areas. We successfully organised ‘Kshitij‘, the flagship event of the committee which aspires to build a bridge between academia and industry. Eminent leaders from the field of HR/IR came under one roof to discuss emerging and relevant HR themes. We also collaborated with the School Of HRM administration in organising the HR Symposium.

  

During Xamboree, the committee conducted ‘Case in Point‘, the flagship national case study competition and ‘Pro-Act‘ a B-plan competition, in collaboration with HabituX. Along with the above events, the committee also held ‘Tol-Mol’, a learning event involving the negotiation between trade unions and management. Think HR Sessions, discussions on various topics of academic importance aimed at With an aim to sharing knowledge and experience with first-year HR students we held ‘Think HR Sessions’, and discussions on various topics of academic importance.

Students were offered numerous educational learning opportunities in terms of immersion courses offered by industry experts covering crucial topics in the field of HR, and Live Projects in an attempt to increase industry engagement. XIMAHR converted around twenty(20) live project opportunities for HRM students.

We also released our annual magazine entire HR fraternity ‘HR’Xpert’, and, ‘HRizn, the monthly newsletter.

RMAX organised the annual intra-university quiz competition, the Arijit Ghosh Memorial Quiz Competition in association with XQuizzite. ‘Vaktavya‘, a national level debate competition followed and witnessed participation from various national level B-schools.

Abhivyakti‘, the annual Rural Management Conclave witnessed industry stalwarts in various fields such as development, agri-business, financial inclusion, marketing, consultancy, and insurance, discussing on the theme ‘Tectonic shifts in Rural Milieu’. The event concluded with the release of the bi-monthly newsletter ‘Abhigyaan’.

Adaspur village in Cuttack was the venue for our rural marketing fair and flagship event ‘Gramotsava’ that aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural communities. This year, the theme was ‘Kaushal Gram’ or ‘Skilled Village’.

The committee conducted ‘Spardha‘, an inter-college Social Business Plan Competition during Xamboree that tested the social entrepreneurship quotient of participants through various stages in encompassing sectors that influence the rural scenario of India. ‘ThotBox‘, the movie night was organised screening quirky movies followed by thought-provoking discussions.

ConXerv, the functional committee of School of Sustainability conducted its flagship event ‘Parivartan’ the business conclave, connecting the students of School of Sustainability and eminent leaders of the industry to discuss new ideas and innovations in the field of sustainability. This year the theme of the conclave was ‘Industry 4.0: An Enabler for Corporate Sustainability’. It successfully conducted ‘Business Buzz’, a sustainable B-Plan competition, at Xamboree’19 that tested the business acumen of participants.

ConXerv, in collaboration with Wipro Limited, successfully conducted the ‘Wipro Earthian Sustainability Quiz’ at XIM University. The Wipro Earthian Sustainability Quiz is a significant leap in inculcating sustainability thinking and action amongst youth. It serves as an engaging platform for colleges to keep abreast of all the activities in the world of sustainability.

Intending to brand the School Of Human Settlements vision and mission, HabituX organised its annual conclave ‘SAMAVESH‘ where speakers from various sectors shared their knowledge and experience on topics such as smart cities, housing and infrastructure, urban mobility, and real estate. The session concluded with a poster exhibition by the batch of 2018-20 on the fields of urban informality, urban network and services, and urban analytics.

On 19th September 2019, the Xavier Center for Urban Management and Governance became a full-fledged, school the School of Human Settlements. School Of Human Settlements focuses on developing and transferring knowledge about building sustainable, liveable and inclusive cities and communities. The keynote speaker for the event was Mr Om Prakash Mathur, Senior Fellow and head of Urban Studies, Institute of Social Sciences. Our Registrar, Fr. Augustine launched the website.

At Xamboree, HabituX collaborated with XIMAHR and organised ‘Urbrainiac’, a business simulation to strategise business plans and ‘ProAct’, the ultimate strategy competition. We also held a grand event ‘Urban Thinkers Campus’ in partnership with UN Habitat’s World Urban Campaign and kicked off ‘ UNNOVATIONS’ a cultural event in association with Xquizzite XIM University, Scribbl-In, Snap City and Soul Motion. Prof. Dr Kajri Misra, Dean of Human Settlements introduced the theme ‘Planning Practices and Education’ for the second session of the Urban Thinkers Campus.

We also conducted three colloquiums bringing in leading practitioners and urban policymakers from across the country and abroad to share their experiences and reflections in the direction of School of Human Settlements.

The committee organised FinShiksha’s ‘Workshop on Derivatives Pricing and Risk Management‘ followed by a session on technical placement questions. During Xamboree, the committee hosted ‘Harmoney‘, the flagship event of InfinX with finance-based questions and live stock trading for three days.

School of Commerce hosted its annual conclave ‘ Privitti’19‘ on the theme ‘Startups: Financial issues and challenges’. The national-level conference by InfinX brought together eminent industry leaders from the world of finance to talk about emerging and relevant financial issues that affect businesses of all sizes. The event brought together four distinguished speakers to discuss their thoughts and experiences in regards to that theme. The speakers included Mr Krishnan Viswanathan ( Chief Executive Officer, Kris Konsultng), Mr Ananda Mishra ( Founder, CEO, GroZip), Mr Abhinav Ramesh ( Director, ChainFlux and founder, WandX), Mr Prasanna Lohar ( Head, innovation – technical and digital architecture, DCB Bank Ltd), and Mr Gaurav Golecha ( PE Investor and Consultant ).

XIM University kick-started its annual cultural-management fest, Xamboree on 27th September 2019. The inaugural ceremony of Xamboree 2019 began in the presence of Shri Tusharkanti Behera (Hon’ble Minister of State Electronics and Telecommunications, Sports and Youth Services), Dr Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J. (Vice-Chancellor, XIM University), Fr. Antony Raj, S.J. (Deputy Registrar, XIM University), Prof. Snigdha Pattnaik (Professor, School of HRM), and other dignitaries with a tribute to those unsung heroes who contributed in rebuilding Odisha after Fani with their seamless efforts and dedication. The dignitaries also symbolically unveiled the Student Wellness Center.

It was a grand event which witnessed participation from many B-schools across the country in various businesses and cultural events organized over three days. ‘Spardha’, ‘ProAct’, ‘Business Buzz’, ‘Ascend-The Big Shot’, ‘Samridhi and Case-in-Point were the various B-plan and case study competitions organized. The gaming committees of XIM University , Gladiator, Chakravyuh, and Skill City held various business simulation events that tested the participants’ decision-making skills, business knowledge, and general awareness. The second day of Xamboree 2019 concluded with the much-awaited event Comedy Night with Rahul Subramanian, with an opening act by Chain Jokers. Rahul, with his meticulously crafted act related to B-school life by recalling his MBA life, made the audience roar with laughter and shake their heads in amazement.

To conclude this exuberance, Bombay Basement, a Mumbai based band whose music is a blend of hip-hop, rap, reggae, funk, drum, and bass, performed live and captivated the audience with their high energy and hip-shaking performance. In association with Red Bull Music, NUCLEYA, the country’s most popular EDM sensation and influential independent artist, performed live at the celeb night of Xamboree 2019, which created buzz and excitement all over the city. He rendered magic with his scintillating performance and made the crowd groove to Laung Gawacha, Bass Rani, and other hits. The three-day fest was a grand success and raised the standards of a Cultural-Management Fest.
